Your journey, day by day
Days 1–4 · Beijing and the Great Wall
Begin with Beijing’s history and a Great Wall excursion. Spread the major outings over separate days and keep some time for jet lag before the more active mountain part of the trip.
Day 5 · travel to Zhangjiajie
Check actual connections to Zhangjiajie before fixing the itinerary. Confirm whether your hotel is in the city or Wulingyuan; the final transfer is an important part of the travel day.
Days 6–8 · forest park and mountain scenery
Base your forest park days around Wulingyuan and your walking ability. Tianmen Mountain is a separate outing near the city. Keep weather flexibility and confirm which lifts, buses and cable cars your tickets include.
Day 9 · travel to Shanghai
Transfer onward to Shanghai. After several active days, a light arrival evening is usually a better fit than another scheduled tour.
Days 10–12 · Shanghai and departure
Explore the Bund and city neighborhoods, with a choice of gardens or museums. Keep the final day for your international departure and allow time to reorganize luggage after the mountain stay.
How the route fits together
The proposed order is Beijing → Zhangjiajie → Shanghai. Compare rail and air options by door-to-door travel time, not just time on board. Avoid a demanding activity immediately after a long international flight.

Ask for accommodation, intercity tickets, private transport, guiding, admission tickets and meals to be itemized. Do not assume an activity or transfer is included unless it appears in the written quote.
